On Friday September 4, Year 7-9 students from seven Queensland Clontarf Academies converged on the lush ovals of Harristown State High School in Toowoomba to compete in a “Kick-it Touch” round robin competition.

After getting all decked out in their very flash respective schools’ Clontarf jerseys games got underway. A lot of tremendous tries were scored throughout the day, however the most impressive thing on show was the Clontarf spirit. All the boys had a go even though some had never played any kind of footy at all.

Each Academy was asked to select one boy from each team who displayed great sportsmanship and played to the best of their ability. These guys received a Clontarf “Deadly Bloke Award” certificate and a Clontarf cap.

The award winners were:

  • Harristown 1 – Michael Robinson
  • Harristown 2 – Darren Galvin
  • Toowoomba State High – Lachlan Clarkson
  • Kingaroy – Harry White
  • Barambah 1- Thomas Albany
  • Barambah 2- Selwyn Cobbo
  • Dalby- Barry Pamkoonda
  • Warwick – Jeremiah Torrens

Congratulations boys, great effort!

A special mention must go to Mr Ian Brackstone’s Sport Specialisation Year 12 students, who assisted in the organising and refereeing of all the matches on the day. Thanks guys, we truly appreciate your help.

All the academies had a great day with plenty of smiles, lots of laughter and a few sunburnt noses. The boys are all very keen for the next competition.
