The Harristown Year 8 and 9 boys climbed up into the Bunya Mountains in late March on their first camp for the year.

The boys were blown away by the drop in temperature, wallabies wandering around everywhere and the fact that there was a fully grown rain forest with massive trees, not that far from Toowoomba.

As well as sleeping out under the stars and a short walk past waterfalls and hundred year old trees, the fellas helped out with the cooking and cleaning and played footy until the sun went down.

The next day we were up with the sun, and after a cooked brekky and camp was packed up, we headed off on the four kilometre Scenic Circuit walk. This took us past some amazing views and through beautiful rainforest with bubbling creeks and mini waterfalls.

We then headed down off the mountain and visited the Dalby academy for a quick game of touch and yarn with the boys before heading on home.

It was a great, short camp and the boys look forward to visiting the Bunya Mountains again soon.
